How to make mashed potatoes – foolproof

Foolproof and perfect mashed potatoes – every time!

Basic mashed potatoes

  • Time: 30 minutes
  • 2kg potatoes
  • (50g salted butter)
  • 100ml milk
  1. Peel the potatoes, cut into chunks and boil in a pan of boiling water for 15-20 minutes. (how to boil potatoes)
  2. Drain potatoes and put back into the pan and mash well with a potato masher, fork, blender or mixer.
  3. Add warm milk and butter (butter is optional) and season with salt and pepper. Mash again until smooth, adding more milk to loosen, if needed. Done!

Storing & freezing tips

  • Two to three days in the fridge
  • Freeze in an airtight container
